The University of Sharjah Receives a Delegation from the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa)

His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received Her Excellency Najla Al Midfa, CEO of the Sharjah Entrepreneur Center (Sheraa), with the aim of discussing future cooperation opportunities in the Sharjah Oasis in Research, Technology and Innovation project, in the presence of Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor of the University for Community Affairs; Prof. Philip Molyneux , Dean of the College of Business Administration; and Professor Ahmed Alhalyan, Partnerships Manager at the Sharjah Center for Entrepreneurship (Sheraa). At the beginning of the meeting, the Chancellor of the University welcomed H.H. Najla Al Midfa and the accompanying delegation, then presented a brief on the Sharjah Oasis in Research, Technology and Innovation "Free Zone Authority", which is wholly owned by the University of Sharjah, and stressed that it aims to conduct applied scientific research to produce new technologies and innovations by providing an appropriate environment for creativity and innovation, developing knowledge economic projects, translating scientific research at the University and converting it into projects that serve the community. He added that the Sharjah Oasis in Research, Technology and Innovation will work on proposing educational programs in coordination with the relevant sectors and the necessary training programs, and encouraging students and researchers to pursue scientific research and develop their scientific capabilities, and he stressed that it will also work to encourage companies, bodies and international centers to invest in its work, along with supporting, encouraging and developing the system of innovation and creativity to enhance the position of the University and the Emirate in general as a global destination in the fields of applied scientific research. For his part, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb presented an overview of the infrastructure for scientific research at the University, and what it contains of research institutes, centers of excellence and many research groups that work in all areas of interest to society, and stressed that the University of Sharjah, through its five-year strategic plan: 2019 2024, focuses on applied scientific research aimed at serving and developing society.
